Write your fears down on a piece of paper. Fold it into a pirate hat, put it on your head. There, now you're a pirate [with] no fear.

All Rested and Ready to Start Again?

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Now that the wonderment that is all things SXSW is complete, are you rested and well enough to start all over?

In case you missed it (and all that was going on, I’m sure a lot of you did) both SXSW Eco and SXSW V2V had launch parties during the March event.

SXSW Eco
SXSW Eco takes place from October 7–9, 2013 at the Austin Convention Center. This is a move from the AT&T Conference Center used last year and the Hilton Downtown the inaugural year (they grow up so fast!), and is currently accepting Panel Picker submissions for the event.

Public voting on SXSW Eco Panel Picker will run from Monday, May 13, 2013 through Friday, May 24, 2013 (11:59 PM CST).

SXSW V2V
SXSW V2V takes place Sunday, August 11, 2013 through Wednesday August 14, 2013 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is currently accepting session, speaker and mentor ideas through April 5, 2013 and V2Venture entries until May 17, 2013.

So, now that you’re all rested and back to normal, are you ready to get your Southby back on?
We are!

SXSW Eco goes app!

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

If you’re heading out to SXSW Eco this weekend, then you might want to grab the SXSW Eco mobile phone app. Available in Android and iOS flavours (and powered by the same team behind the SXSW 2011 mobile app), you can keep track of your favourite sessions, your eco footprint, and have in-app access to the official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Back in March the mobile application was a pretty smart way to navigate SXSW 2011 if you hadn’t used a big marker pen on the official program, so it will be interesting to see how well it works in a smaller environment like Eco. In any case it’s a free download we’d recommend.

Here comes SXSW Eco

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

SXSW Eco will provide an open and creative space for experienced, passionate and pragmatic professionals to network with a diverse group of influential organizations and individuals, while contributing to cutting-edge discussion. The conference will feature a mix of sessions, including keynote presentations, panels, and core-conversations. Session ideas submitted via the SXSW Eco website will be considered by SXSW Eco staff as well as the SXSW Eco Advisory Board.

Now this is interesting, initially on two fronts. The first is that there is now a SXSW conference in October, and the second is that it’s an expansion of the brand into a new area. My worry is that it does a "Ted" and devalues the power of SXSW as Spring Break for geeks, filmsters, musicians and hipsters.

Let’s see what happens.
