SXSW 2015 Announces Midnighters and Shorts

Tuesday, February 10th, 2015

Okay Babies, the list of Shorts and Midnighters are here!!!!

For me, it is difficult to even recommend individual films in this category, because as far as I am concerned, if you have made a Midnight film-I am there! To be included in this category puts you automatically on my to be seen list.  With that being said, I confess to being a little extra giddy about:

The Corpse of Anna Fritz (Spain) Director: Hèctor Hernández Vicens

  • Because necrophilia is ALWAYS interesting!

He Never Died Director/Screenwriter: Jason Krawczyk

  • Because I really like Henry Rollins and also, cannibilism!

The Nightmare Director: Rodney Ascher

  • Billed as a horror documentary, I am too curious as to how this plays out. By the Director of Room 237.

Okay sweet Babies, that is it, for the moment. Keep checking back for updates on all things SXSW, whether it is film, music, interactive or any of the new/newer additions to this monster conference, including food, SXsports, gaming, etc. etc. etc., one of us will be giving you the news you need to know. Hang in there, Babies, March is closing in!

More Shorts to Consider

Thursday, March 6th, 2014

I am not always a huge fan of claymation, but Allison Schulnik‘s short Eager is stunning. Beautiful imagery, haunting music and thought provoking visuals make this a lovely way to spend 8 1/2 minutes.

Screening in Animated Shorts:

⋆ Saturday, March 8
11:00AM – 12:21PM

Rollins Theatre @ The Long Center

* Sunday, March 9
2:00PM – 3:21PM

Wednesday, March 12
7:00PM – 8:21PM
Vimeo Theater

Thursday, March 13

Also in Animated Shorts: Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared 2-Time. If you are a fan of twisted, dark humour, this will appeal to you. In Part II of what I hope will become a long series, Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling gives us a glimpse into the abyss. Check it out-it’s catchy!
And in Midnight Shorts:
Kids and Explosions: Swear Words.  I love this short for many reasons, mostly because it has the potential to make so many people angry. It is from France. It is a statement on American culture. It is almost spot on. I just wish it was a little longer. Well done, Thomas Vernay and Yann Wallaert!
