If you haven’t got your badge for SXSW yet, what are you waiting for? At midnight tonight (Friday 7th) there will be no more discounts, and the badges will be at their maximum price point.

Here’s how the price for your badge looks now, and how it will look after Friday midnight right up to the time when you walk up to the Austin Convention Center and buy your badge because you forgot to do it beforehand.

If you are buying a badge at this stage, and especially if you are buying one to come to Interactive, then please check out available accomodation before you head to SXSW.com to buy the badge. There are no refunds, and hotel space is at a premium this year.

And by at a premium we mean there was more room in Bethlehem.

A quick heads up to everyone who’s not yet purchased their badge for SXSW 2013… the current discount level is going to end at midnight, Austin time, this Friday (strictly speaking, 23:59 on Friday January 11th).

Also worth noting that the SXSW Housing Desk is showing no availability of rooms from Friday 8th through Monday 11th. You might want to make sure you have accommodation sorted out before you plan on attending Interactive, because if you were hoping to get a SXSW hotel after buying the badge… you’re a bit late.

It’s been a bit of a rough ride for a few of us here at The Baby! since the end of our favourite Conference that picks up Music, Film, Interactive, Comedy, so please excuse a little bit of radio silence. Hopefully those of you looking to speak at SXSW 2013 on a panel picked up that the deadline for submitting your panel was actually last week, July 20th.

Which means, faithful reader, that the Austin bunnies are currently doing a quick skim over all the ideas for 2013, and getting them ready to go on show in the Panel Picker, where everyone gets a chance to vote on the potential panels.

As in previous years, the public vote will have a bearing on the selection process, but SXSW will also hand pick a number of sessions themselves as well as turning to their Advisory Panel to go through the sessions providing their own input. Think of it as a third public vote, a third on a jury of peers, and a third on the gut instinct from the SXSW team on what works, and you’ll have a good idea of how it all shakes down.

The Panel Picker will go live on Monday August 13th. So in about two weeks.

Ready for the deadlines? Or at least the deadlines for November (because if there’s anything that South By does well, it’s having a lot of deadlines… every month). Onwards, with courage!

Submissions for the Interactive Awards end on Friday 18th Nov; Films need to be in on the Tuesday before that (i.e. the 15th); and if you were hoping to get your band in by now, whoops, because that was November 4th… last week.

And the other big deadline? The tickets. You can still walk up on the day to get your SXSW Badges, but if you want to get the next level of discount you’ll need to book ‘em by this Friday.

Look, if you know you’re going to be at South by in March next year, and you havent; bought your badge yet, then do remember the prices go up at the end of Friday. This Friday.

See that price jump? Up to $100 difference between Friday and Saturday. Why, that’s enough for half a night at the Hilton!

You’ve now got until midnight on Sunday July 17th (today) to get your draft proposal into the SXSW Panel Picker for potential SXSW 2012 talks. Strictly speaking it’s a 23:59 deadline, but in the words of SXSW:

With all the emails and questions we’ve received in the past 24 hours, we realize you still have a lot of questions about how to write your best SXSW Panel Picker proposal. Now is your chance to perfect the programming idea you’ve been working on and get your idea in before it’s too late.

Personally I just think people are looking at SXSW instead of taking part in LA’s Carmageddon, but whatever the reason, you can boogie on over to panelpicker.sxsw.com.

There’s about six hours left (from the time of this post) to get your Panel ideas for SXSW 2012 into the Panel Picker.

You can edit your submissions right up until August 5th, but unless the core of the idea is in place before midnight Austin time, you’re out of luck. So hurry up and click through to panelpicker.sxsw.com .
