Here Come The Films!

Steven Carrel, Joss Wheddon, Alex Winter, Stephen Merchant (one for the Brits there)… SXSW Film are trading in big names this year, as the majority of the films scheduled for March have been announced The films SXSW want you to pay attention to are on their news post, while all the films can be found here.

There are still some more titles to come out (and the all important screening. The Short Film programming will be with us by the middle of February, and our personal favorite section, the Midnight Features, will be one of the last big reveals. Not that we haven’t got our seats picked out for Friday night at the Alamo Ritz…

Joining The Cabin in the Woods, SXSW Film also announced a handful of other films that will make up part of the 2012 program:

  • Marley, a biopic on Bob Marley.
  • Beauty is Embarrassing, about artist Wayne White.
  • Psychological thriller Citadel.
  • The Oyster Princess, from 1919, will see the return of Bee vs Moth to provide a new score to the classic silent film.
  • The first three episodes of Girls (a new HBO TV Series) will be screened – Lena Dunham and exec producer Judd Apatow will also talk about the ten episode show set to screen in the US in April.
Now the big ticket items are out the way, we’ll watch for the smaller, indie, art-house, music, and downright weird films to fill out the schedule for March. Can. Not. Wait.
