A few resources to try:

Post on the SXSW Baby! Ride/Room Share Board that you’re looking for crash space.
Call the SXSW Housing Desk at (512) 467-7979 and they will do their best to try to place you. Some attendees may be canceling reservations or letting go of extra, unneeded hotel rooms. Who knows, you might get lucky and score a prime location downtown.
Austin Craigslist is full of people offering up their places for rent.
Try AirBed and Breakfast or Couchsurfing.
