SXSW Podcast: Previewing Film
Janet Pierson is on the end of the line in our final preview of South by Southwest. Taking over from Matt Dentler at SXSW Film, Janet is no stranger to film-making (having been involved with many films, including Clerks and Roger & Me to name two), and her enthusiasm for the challenge of the Film Festival is clear for all to hear.

Our second preview of South by Southwest is Hugh Forrest from the Interactive conference - now established as one of the flagship conferences of the tech world. Hugh and I cover a number of issues, including how late can the plans change; does panel picker promote diversity at SXSW interactive; deciding on the keynote speakers and inviting people back to speak again; the party scene; and the growth of SXSW.

SXSW Podcast: Previewing Music
This is the first of our three preview shows for the South by Southwest festivals, and arguably SXSW is most widely known for its music festival (although we know that Film and Interactive are catching up quickly in their respective circles). I caught up with Brent Grulke, who helps helm SXSW Music, to find out how the preparations are coming along, where the bands are from, and generally find out why 2009 could well be the best year yet for SXSW Music.

SXSW Podcast: Shuttle, Gavin Starks and Trash Fashion
Things are never what they seem - and thats very true for today’s show. Shuttle is an absolutely engrossing movie, but does require you to know very little about it when you see it (and that makes the interview tricky); the AMEE project is uncovering the truth of our environment, or at least getting a mass of data; and the discovery of new music - today its Trash Fashion - is always a joy.

SXSW Podcast: Brent Grulke Previews the SXSW Music Festival
The final preview of the SXSW Podcast is with Brent Grulke. SXSW Music is the core festival, or at least the oldest, and is regarded as one of the top music festivals in the world - ask any band if they would play here and they’d bite your leg off. Brent Grulke has been involved for many many years, and now is the Musical Director of the festival. What keeps him excited and involved, which bands would want to play, and how do you choose the best of the best to play the showcases?

Continuing our previews of the trinity that makes up SXSW, today is the turn of SXSW Film Head Honcho, Matt Dentler. After the well received hints and tips podcast yesterday, the first of three preview shows has me talking to Hugh Forrest, the man behind SXSW Interactive. From loaning the team a Mac many years ago, he’s overseen the youngest but fastest growing part of the SXSW experience. What has he learned, how does the team choose the panels, and will Brian Eno ever do a keynote?

SXSW Podcast: Hugh Forrest, Black Sheep and Dirty Country
Mostly movies today, but with the musical biopic of Larry Pierce, you’ve got some melodies to join in with at the very end of the show. Before that though, 40,000 zombie sheep attack the farm in the New Zealand comedy horror agriculture spectacle that will rival Shaun of the Dead this year, and the chaos of getting every music registrant a wristband.
Today’s Guests From SXSW:
Hugh Forrest, SXSW Coordinator talking about registering all the music fans and more.
Jonathan King, writer and director of Black Sheep.
Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett, directors of Dirty Country.

And for SXSW Movie, when you have people who love movies as much as Chris Kattan and Glasgow Phillips (from Undead or Alive) you can’t help but chat about the resurgence of the Zombie, The Transformers Movie, Pirates of the Caribbean and debate the merits of The Swarm.
