SXSW Podcast: Shuttle, Gavin Starks and Trash Fashion

Things are never what they seem - and thats very true for today’s show. Shuttle is an absolutely engrossing movie, but does require you to know very little about it when you see it (and that makes the interview tricky); the AMEE project is uncovering the truth of our environment, or at least getting a mass of data; and the discovery of new music - today its Trash Fashion - is always a joy.

Feel free to leave comments on the main blog, or email me on .

SXSW Podcast: Brad Graham, Sex Positive and Koopa

And so into the interviews - although one part preview/one interesting story with Brad Graham from SXSW Baby sits alongside the challenging film Sex Positive, based around the beginnings of the safe sex movement in New York, and the youthful exuberance of the one of the top independent bands from the UK, Koopa!

SXSW Podcast: Brent Grulke Previews the SXSW Music Festival

The final preview of the SXSW Podcast is with Brent Grulke. SXSW Music is the core festival, or at least the oldest, and is regarded as one of the top music festivals in the world - ask any band if they would play here and they’d bite your leg off. Brent Grulke has been involved for many many years, and now is the Musical Director of the festival. What keeps him excited and involved, which bands would want to play, and how do you choose the best of the best to play the showcases?

SXSW Podcast: Previewing Interactive with Hugh Forrest

After the well received hints and tips podcast yesterday, the first of three preview shows has me talking to Hugh Forrest, the man behind SXSW Interactive. From loaning the team a Mac many years ago, he’s overseen the youngest but fastest growing part of the SXSW experience. What has he learned, how does the team choose the panels, and will Brian Eno ever do a keynote?

SXSW Podcast: Hugh Forrest, Black Sheep and Dirty Country

Mostly movies today, but with the musical biopic of Larry Pierce, you’ve got some melodies to join in with at the very end of the show. Before that though, 40,000 zombie sheep attack the farm in the New Zealand comedy horror agriculture spectacle that will rival Shaun of the Dead this year, and the chaos of getting every music registrant a wristband.

Today’s Guests From SXSW:
Hugh Forrest, SXSW Coordinator talking about registering all the music fans and more.
Jonathan King, writer and director of Black Sheep.
Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett, directors of Dirty Country.

And for SXSW Movie, when you have people who love movies as much as Chris Kattan and Glasgow Phillips (from Undead or Alive) you can’t help but chat about the resurgence of the Zombie, The Transformers Movie, Pirates of the Caribbean and debate the merits of The Swarm.
