see what you wanted to see, and - more importantly had fun!

By my reckoning, I saw at least 65 acts over the six nights I was there, met some of the greatest humans on the planet, and did my bit to pump up the stock in the alcohol industry.

Simply amazing.  Heard the weather was bad on Monday, March 10th, but the Music weather was just about the best I’ve encountered.

Thank you Austin, thank you volunteers, and thank you SXSWBaby community.

See you next year…

damn sure about that!

65???  I guess waking up at 1pm was really cutting into my drinking and show going time.

I was on the streets before noon every day and in the Continental Club by 10:00AM Saturday for Mojo Nixon’s showcase/party (jalapeno pancakes served up by Becky and Trish… yummm.... smile and then out till the last showcase every evening.  Over the years, I’ve trained my body for this marathon.  I still haven’t managed an after-party, guess I’m still no superman.  But I do take advantage of as much as I can.  Glad to be back home though.  Now, once my liver gets back from the cleaners I’ll be as good as new..........

Wow, 65. Do you stay for just a few songs for each band? I usually see the entire set of each act and only squeeze in 40 or so.

I started Tuesday evening and did indeed see at least one band every hour from approximately 11:00AM until 2:00AM for the next five days.  It’s probably cheating to count the two Irish bands I saw at B.D. Rileys on St. Paddy’s Day, but I threw them in because it still felt like SXSW.  The 7:00PM “Body Of War” showcase at Stubb’s Thursday evening had a new performer on stage every thirty minutes.  Oh, and do the “Bells Of Joy” at Stubb’s gospel brunch on Sunday count?  And then Alejandro Escovedo’s wonderful benefit show at the Continental Club Sunday night?  So yes, I think my count is close, if not exact.
