see what you wanted to see, and - more importantly had fun!

By my reckoning, I saw at least 65 acts over the six nights I was there, met some of the greatest humans on the planet, and did my bit to pump up the stock in the alcohol industry.

Simply amazing. Heard the weather was bad on Monday, March 10th, but the Music weather was just about the best I’ve encountered.

Thank you Austin, thank you volunteers, and thank you SXSWBaby community.

IA 2008 Debrief

So unless you’re one of the lucky few with the funds and time off to stick around for Music, you’ve probably been home for a few days, getting back into the swing of things at work, and pining for those carefree days in Austin where the biggest worry you’d have is getting so drunk you’d miss the 10am panel the next morning.

Yeah, me too.

So I’m starting this thread as a way for everyone to share their thoughts on the conference’s official events - the panels, registration, the web awards, and after-hours events like the Frog Design and MediaTemple parties. Use this space to talk about what you liked, what didn’t work for you, and what you’d like to see improved for 2009. And don’t forget to vote in the poll. (I have a few things to add, but I’m going to withhold comment until some of the others have had a chance to speak their peace.)

On Friday night I saw a mobile pedi-cab DJ with a handful of MCs and dancers. Anyone know who this is?

R.E.M. at SXSW

I saw R.E.M. in Austin a few years ago at the Austin City Limits Festival in Zilker Park. There were 20 - 30,000 fans at that stage on that Sunday evening. How is Stubb’s going to handle the demand for their Wednesday, March 12th showcase? Are any plans being announced? Could be a royal mess. And the ACL taping? Strictly attendance limited, I’m certain. Who gets those tickets?
