Honoring Digital Do-Gooders: Dewey Winburne Move to Thursday March 6

So, you’re in Austin. You may not have your badge yet. Your liver is not quite done girding itself for the onslaught of free drinks to come  in the next several days.

What’s a tech geek to do?

Fear not! Your answer awaits a mere 3 blocks from the Convention center at St. David’s Episcopal Church at 7th and Trinity, where this year’s Dewey Winburne Community Service Awards will take place on Thursday March 6th, at 7pm. The event if FREE, so no badge is required if you haven’t gotten yours yet.

More About the Awards

A teacher and one of the original co-founders of the SXSW Interactive Festival, Dewey Winburne worked to train at-risk youth to make use of digital technology. Dewey believed that the new media revolution could help level the playing field between the haves and the have-nots in our society. Although Dewey passed away in 1999, his legacy continues via the lives of the many digital creatives he touched.
