The shadow of Doom falls over SXSW Interactive

Now this could go either way – a fascinating retrospective of some of the biggest gaming titles, or a forward-looking flag waving exercise with some practical examples.

No matter what, the talk from John Romero as part of SXSW Interactive’s Gaming thread is going to be a well-attended room. What with Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Ravenwood Fair, and his current leadership role at Lootdrop, there’s a lot of ground he could cover:

One of the earliest “indie” developers, Romero has been working in the game space since 1979 before moving to the Apple II in 1981. Romero’s current areas of interest are Facebook games and massively multiplayer online (MMO) games as well as social media and its intersection with gaming.
