Goodbye Emo’s
Once of the big names in the SXSW Music scene is Emo’s, but if you’re planning a drink there in March 2012, you might have to raise a glass of sorrow just now because it’s moving away from 6th and Red River, reports The Daily Texan.
The outside stage is going to be closed in the next week or so with the curtain being brought down by Death From Above 1979, while the smaller stage inside will stay in operation until the end of SXSW 2012, before being retired, kicking and screaming, to be transformed by the currently unknown new owner.
The name will live on – Emo’s East will regenerate on East Riverside – but one thing’s for sure. The new venue won’t be able to boast that Johnny Cash played SXSW there. Or Wu-Tang Clan. Or Damian Marley. Or Retarded Elf.
